Fashion industry is rather wide, as it depends on many processes and different events. Most of all, the fashion is affected by top issues in a society – starting with politics, actions of famous people, and ending with global processes in general. As there are particularly gifted people with so called “antennas”, they can foresee and grasp actualities in a society long before, and it results into fashion trends society gladly consume, although to be modish doesn’t mean to keep up with latest fashion trends.

From my point of view, a stylish person is a one who stays in mind for the rest of the day, even if you met the person only for a moment. At the same time, you might not remember what the person was wearing – because clothes supplement their character, marking out charm of a personality. You would notice clothing of a perfectly dressed person only as a second thought, because a stylish person is in a harmony with it. Person definitely acknowledges a wonder of small details and colour nuances, not loosing a total look of the outfit in mean time.

As I mentioned before, a modish person is not defined by a fashionable piece of clothe, which must be worn or at least purchased. Stylish people know how to mix everything and sometimes even set new tendencies!

Still, if we talk about tendencies, I can say that a charm of 40-ies presents itself this winter. I would suggest focusing on retro, ideally mixing new items with authentic Vintage jewellery, purses, fur collars, broach, hats and gloves. This is a time, when women may remember such an interesting detail of their wardrobe as a hat, which has not only a practical function during a winter, but also an esthetical and individual aspect. Since various balls and events still take place on January, a hat might become an element, which will give you your special style and charm.

General characteristics of a style of this season are plastic or asymmetric forms and emphasized shoulder line. Another remarkable thing is zeal and a powerful spirit of 80ies, which left strong marks in a fashion history. Shining materials, emphasized shoulders as well as biker’s elements – zipper, black leather and studs. A main mood of a season, which finds its place in all styles, is a mix of a tomboy and femininity in a sophisticated but still a powerful image.



Surely, looking for a hat is recommendable this season. Since knitwear is especially fashionable, an offer for various knitted hats is quite wide – roughly knitted hat with a braid or wide brim, huge bob or crafted like a pilot s hat.

I am developing my first industrial collection „NUMBERS”, which will be released internationally. A collection is aimed towards both boys and girls; moreover, some of the items are unisex – made for both genders. I believe that clothing must become more understandable, available, must eliminate borders, stereotypes and luxurious arrogance. I am for an original and valuable clothing, but still would love to emphasize that clothing is made for wearing and might be used a lot, not just a bit and only for celebrations.

Of course I have my muse, just as every other artist. These are: Hussein Chalayan, Junya Watanabe, Vivienne Westwood, Ann Demeulemeester. Talking about things, which inspire me, then it is definitely science and social processes. It may be some interesting type on a street or a movie. One of such movies is the “π”. But I consciously try not to be influenced by existing tendencies in total, even though it is a difficult task. My unconscious mind constantly receives interesting things, which surface in creative work every day. I can say that the most difficult and important work for a designer is not to follow a fashion, but to set it. To come up with something new and to create something stunning nowadays is a sheer happiness! Still it is possible!

It is important to feel alive and not to lose energy during a winter. A „Stenders” bath foam and oils, especially with a grapefruit aroma or essential oils, help me a lot.

There are nice things, which can inspire and take away passivity. Most often it is a key to get up and go skiing, walk along the sea or just be more active during a winter, therefore comfortable and appropriate choice of shoes is important. Thus your feet will be protected and not tired. Warm gloves protect hands not only from a cold, but also from becoming dry and coarse. If it is your problem, I would advice to purchase a qualitative and nurturing hand cream, which you could use daily.

Regarding a hair care – natural, nuanced colours are still fashionable both for blonds and brunettes. If you like red, then you may allow yourself to be more noticeable, choosing, for example, Burgundy vine or dark ore colour.

Curls come into a fashion as the new trend, which is fashionable both in daily life as well as for celebrations. Curls may be more defined for festivities, reminding retro, but then a confident and good make-up is also important.

There is nothing specific in my daily hair care routine, but I have discovered a hair cosmetics „Tigi” for myself. Hair is infused with energy every time used. I advice to use a good hair mask once a month as well.

Believe that a make-up is not something we must experiment a lot or where we should save a lot. Therefore we must consult with salesperson or hairdresser before the purchase, and choose qualitative and professional care products.

If you like a classical music (and even if you do not like it) I can advice to go to Vestard Šimkus concerts on 28 and 29 January. He started to play piano when he was 5, and has participated in several international music festivals, as well as won many awards in international pianist’s competitions. I really advice to get to know this artist, if you still are not aware of him.

A Fairy tail concert tour of the group „Cosmos” is something, I advice you to participate in. It takes place during December and January. Fairy tail concerts are a chance to see the group „Cosmos” in Latvia after a 2 years long break. An album “Pasaki man un tev” lies in basis of this Fairy tail tour.

A „Heliodisplay” is one of the latest science achievements. It projects any 2D pictures from a computer, DVD player or any other equipment in an air. It is also easy to manipulate with – your finger is a cursor.



Another alternative for latest projectors are mini projectors, which become more and more popular not only abroad, but also in Europe. The latest one is the Ever Win EWP1000 mini projector, which has a brightness of 10 lumens and the VGA (640 x 480 pix), which can project a picture from 12cm up to 120cm.
